CMM-Manager for Renishaw Equator

Equator Hardware

CMM-Manager supports Renishaw Equator systems, including the latest Equator-X. The integration is based on CMM-Manager’s compatibility with Renishaw UCC controllers and Equator’s open software (I++) architecture.

CMM-Manager Software

CMM-Manager with Renishaw Equator and Equator-X

With CMM-Manager, users can program inspections in the same environment as their bridge CMMs, portable arms, and vision systems. This is a big benefit because the Equator is often used alongside a CMM for process control. This means you can:

  • Create CAD-based programs.
  • Apply GD&T evaluations.
  • Report results consistently across devices.
  • Share programs with your traditional CMM

Renishaw Equatorâ„¢ Auto Transfer System

CMM-Manager supports this automated part shuttling system via I++ / DME commands that can be sent directly from CMM-Manager when using Equator and other I++ controlled CMMs.

You can integrate a system like the EQ-ATS from Renishaw (or any automated part transport) as part of an automated measuring cell provided the communications and mechanical/fixture/handling systems are designed accordingly.

CMM-Manager software is only one piece of the automation puzzle, you still need the part-handling (shuttle/robot), fixture/pallet, loading/unloading, safety, PLC/robot logic, and CMM readiness/status and ensure integration end-to-end. Read More here – CMM Automation with QxAutomation-Manager

Requirements:

  1. CMM-Manager 2023 or newer with Renishaw Equator driver
    1. Standard Renishaw I++ driver will NOT be compatible
  2. The OEM controller is required for Equator
  3. A “golden part” for master and calibration files creation
    1. This part should be dimensionally close to the nominal as possible
  4. If the calibration file is intending to be used…
    1. CMM-Manager 2023 or newer (with the scanning option) should be installed on the CMM used for the calibration
    2. Although not required, styli used on the CMM and Equator should be similar as sharing the same program between 2 systems will be simpler
