Re: True position of a point with angle

At this point, it APPEARS to me that the problem may be the original definition of the point itself to measure. I'm assuming you picked from CAD and it looks like the pick may have been slightly off. Without the program, I'm guessing. Double click on the point feature in the Program List and go to t...

Re: Reference Tool and Cal Sphere

Indeed. A "can you", "should you" type thing.

Re: CALIBRATING THE CALIBRATION SPHERE?

Except. You would have to calibrate you tool on a certified artifact to start with. Which means you can't calibrated your probe on the sphere and then use that probe to check the sphere...

Re: 3.9 SP2 save file issue

I also cannot make it fail in 3.9 SP2 or 3.10 in English. If I change the name to .prg but *do not* change the type it will save as part1.prg, but the format is still .cmp and will not open (unless I rename it back to .cmp). In English I cannot get the strange part1.prg.cmp format, but that may simp...

Re: CALIBRATING THE CALIBRATION SPHERE?

Here's what NIST says about this (essentially what I said in the first answer): How often must I calibrate and instrument or artifact? You need to calibrate often enough that the instrument or artifact is known well enough that the quality of your product is not adversely affected. You must know wha...

Re: Feature report for a cone that includes the base diameter

Under Construct > Circle you have two options.

You can intersect a cone and a plane (measured/measured, or measured/nominal) and get a diameter at that height. Or, you can get the height on a cone where a specified diameter occurs.

Re: CALIBRATING THE CALIBRATION SPHERE?

The answer totally depends on your, and your customer's, requirements. You determine this statistically. In a perfect world, you would send you sphere out, say, once a week for a few weeks. After you see it is stable, you would then switch to maybe once a month. And after that is stable a few times,...

You are saying you would like option #3, correct?

Re: Hit patterns for flat clouds and planes

I'm going to make a couple of assumptions here since you haven't specifically said so. * You are running CMM-Manager 3.9 SP2 * You are using CAD If you select either Features > 3D (orange) or Features > Cloud (orange cloud) and select the surface, by default you get a point set of 3 x 2 (6 points) a...

Re: updating software

Just in case (although rare) I normally export a helpdesk file. Other than that, I would suggest: Log in (at least for the install) as a local admin. Even if you have to get IT involved. Turn off firewall temporarily Turn of any AntiVirus temporarily When prompted, YES. Import from the previous vers...
